What People Are Saying about "(Didn't Know I Was) Unamerican"
Sophie & Rowan (July 4, 2004)
Sophie:"The beautiful words - how he says the words and how
beautiful it is."
Rowan (who wanted to hear it again): "It means a lot to me, since it
says a lot about the world."
(Sophie and Rowan are 3 and 5, I think)

"Ian's music has a simple prophetic
beauty. His song Unamerican (and the accompanying flash movie) touches
a chord in me and reminds me what I believe in."
I didn't know how many of us might be considered UnAmerican, until I watched Ian Rhett's song and flash movie presentation. It is a powerful message for our time. Those of us who consider ourselves mainstream Americans might be a little surprised.
If you know people, send this to them. If you don't know people, get out of the house, meet people, then send this to them. If you know people on the right, send it to them twice. There is no way you can watch this and NOT be moved. Send it to your friends. Send it to your enemies. If you have a web site please link to it. Every bit helps.
We think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Thanks to Ian Rhett. Visit Ian's website to view the Flash movie and listen to the song. You won't regret it!

My son is currently serving in Iraq. I have hesitated to say I was against the war because I don't want to be against what he is doing. This song said it for me. I am not against the men & women serving. I am against the people responsible for sending them there. Thanks

Your song healed a part of me, it made me feel like doing something to make the world a better place. It made me feel like one person, really could make a difference. I bet a lot of people feel that way about your song.

The movie and song was truly amazing. Thank you for making me realize that while my patriotism may not look like many peoples it is still valid.

Thank you so much for giving us your song! It gives all of us a voice through you! You put into this simple song a message so many of us have in our hearts! Thank you for your bravery and for taking a stand. You have given me hope, in a time when I felt hope was lost!

All I can say is thank you. Sometimes I feel alone in my beliefs and I get discouraged. Seeing your video and hearing your music helped me to realize that I am not, and that we CAN make a difference. All we have to do is really listen to each other.

I absolutely love this song. It captures all the feelings that are going on in this never-ending battle. I myself am in the military. That does not mean that I support the war or that I support this so-called President and his policies. I actually believe that this time in the military under these circumstances have taken me to a new level and to a new direction in my life. That is the one thing that I learned while being a linguist in the military....when you can speak someone's language, it humanizes them. People all over the world want peace. In so many ways we are alike, and this song and its movie captures that eloquently. Keep up the good work.

our words are inspiring. We need more people like yourself in this world. You give me hope. The song Un-american speaks volumes, it is how I have been feeling these last few years. I feel sometimes like fleeing america. My husband is in Iraq and I am waiting for him to come home. In the meantime I am using my energy and time and putting it to good use; I am active in many grassroots organizations and doing my part in trying to change this world for the better, 1 person at a time.
